Week 2 Almost Over

The baseball game was pretty cool, and Yamakasa was interesting. I forgot to white balance my camera so the footage is slightly blue. I think I can fix it on my computer when I get home. My host-mother's birthday was Wednesday, but I didn't get her a present until THursday. I picked up the movie "That Thing You Do". A TV crew interviewed a classmate and I on the street, but I didn't really have anything to say. And on Thursday night I went out with friends to the bars, and we aw a Drag Queen. It was very scary.

Week 1 Over

Okay, so I've done a bunch of things over the past week. I found out that the school no longer does the karaoke trips because some students got really drunk. It is disappointing because those trips were really fun. I ended up roaming around on Friday night by myself and went to the International Bar, and it was pretty fun. Saturday morning I was a little bit sick, so I slept in for most of the day. I tried to find a ramen place, but all the ones I passed had lines going out into the street. I ended up heading out again that night, and went back to the International Bar, and then The Dark Room. The Dark Room was playing the Toxic Avenger on a couple screens, and I could not stop laughing.

Sunday I went on a school trip to some Cos-Play event, and it was very boring. I had my cameras with me, but did not take any pictures or video because it was just that dull. Some of the other students felt the same. When I got back home, my host family and I went to see my host father's parents who live nearby. It was interesting.

Today I won a ticket to the baseball game that is going on tomorrow.

Back in Fukuoka

After waking up early, having my brother navigate the streets of Boston to Logan Airport, and several long flights, I made it back to Fukuoka. The plane trips were not bad, and as we entered the airspace around Narita, I was listening to David Bowie's "Space Oddity". Part way through the song I realized it probably wasn't an appropriate choice for landing music as it involves a flaming crash. I switched to The Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop", but it was cut short when the plane turned off all their entertainment channels.

After arriving in Fukuoka, my host dad picked me up from the airport. My host-mother was really excited to see me, and after handing them the gifts I bought, we had dinner. I wish I liked more Japanese food, but I have a lot of trouble trying to eat it. They also have a new cat. Half the time it attacks everything in sight, the other half it wants to be pet.

Saturday I spent most of the day exploring and reestablishing my bearings around town. On Sunday I spent most of the day in bed because I was feeling sick. Monday classes started, and I haven't really spoken with my classmates yet. Like last year there is a ton of students from some school in Finland. They stick together like the blob and take up a lot of room in the lounge area. The school had a guide take us to a nearby place of interest, and it was a place I visited last year. It was okay, because I found a gift for my nephew there. Tuesday was Tanabata, and in class we had to write down our wish. I wished that I could fight a bear, "Kuma to Kenkashitai desu". I went to Pachinko with my host family, and I did not win anything. Aftward we went to eat Ramen.

Today it was raining a lot, so after class I went to a nearby shopping center to find a sporting goods' store to find a baseball. I brought my glove from home, and hope to spend more time outside.

I will probably have pictures on future updates, butfor now I am too lazy.

Home Again

Didn't get to update during the last week of school because there was a huge influx of new students and now I can't remember what went on.

Other stuff

On the white boards we draw lots of weird stuff to see what the teachers' expressions are.

On Monday after class Manuel and I went to Hakata station to a large store because he needed camera stuff. On the top floor we found an arcade and dumped a lot of money into those games where you win prizes. We walked out with a bag full of Mario Kart related items.

Yesterday we went to a nearby park, but I left all my cameras and stuff at home because I was sick of carrying it all the time. I need to go back there on Friday to get the pictures. Later that night I went to the Canada Day Party at a nearby bar. It was okay, but the drinks were all really expensive and watered down. I saw the Tour GUides from my Canal CIty and Beach BBQ trips and hung out with them and their friends. If they didn't show up, I would have gone home early. I really wish I could hang out with them more because I always meet lots of people.
